Jennifer Calliss, LCPC, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Jennifer Calliss graduated from Roosevelt University with a Masters of Arts in Community Counseling. While obtaining her degree from Roosevelt, Ms. Calliss worked for Shelter Inc. Boys Group Home where she was a group home worker and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Coordinator. The home provided psychotherapeutic intervention in a temporary residential setting for an adolescent male population with behavior disorders. Her work there focused on group and individual counseling along with crisis intervention. During this time Ms. Calliss was also involved in a 2 year clinical internship at Spectrum Youth and Family Services where she conducted clinical intake assessments and provided ongoing individual, family, couple, and group counseling. The diverse nature of difficulties for which she provided therapy included parenting issues, marital difficulties, substance abuse, self esteem issues, depression, anxiety, abuse/neglect, and grief/loss.

Upon completing her degree and training, Ms. Calliss accepted a position as a Youth and Family Counselor at OMNI Youth Services. There she worked with adolescents and their families through individual, family, and group counseling modalities. She also conducted substance abuse assessments and coordinated and facilitated the Parent Education classes for the Northwest suburbs. These classes addressed the management of difficult adolescent behaviors as well as substance abuse. In addition to her clinical work, she was a valuable resource for the community. She made numerous educational presentations on parenting, peer counseling/mediation, adolescent development, and substance abuse. She also facilitated community peer jury programs. She continued to work with the adolescent population, their issues and concerns as a liaison with the schools and surrounding community for Barrington Youth Services.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a member of the American Counseling Association, Ms. Calliss has brought an abundance of experience and expertise to her work with Associates in Therapy and Assessment. In addition to her clinical training and skill in the treatment of adolescents and their families, her ongoing continuing education has allowed her to successfully extend her knowledge and experience to include couples/marital therapy and individual therapy with adult clients. She works with clients challenged by depression, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, substance abuse, eating disorders, grief/loss, behavior disorders, and parenting concerns. She is the co-facilitator of the Relationship Enhancement for Pre-Marital Couples Program of Associates in Therapy and Assessment, serving couples that are moving toward marriage.
