Cari Levin, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Cari Levin graduated from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work in 1990 and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for over 13 years. She maintains active membership in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

In addition to Ms. Levin's licensure in social work, she has received clinical externship certification from the University of Illinois-Chicago, Institute for Juvenile Research Family Systems Program. She has also achieved Type 73 certification in School Social Work at the Loyola University School of Social Work in Chicago in 1996. Her training and clinical concentration involving psychodynamic and family systems theory was developed during internships at the University of Chicago Hospital, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; as well as part of the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic of Lutheran General Hospital.

Ms. Levin possesses a wealth of experience in clinical practice developed over the past 13 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including: a residential treatment facility for severely emotionally disturbed and behaviorally disordered children ages 8-18; an inpatient psychiatric hospital for children; a therapeutic day school for children with autistic spectrum disorders; as a consulting social worker for school districts in Oak Park, Evanston, and Libertyville; and as a consultant to the day care center at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

As an integral member of Associates in Therapy and Assessment, she provides psychotherapy for children 10 years and under and their families, and regularly consults with area schools regarding, emotional, learning, and behavioral issues of their students. She has also worked extensively with women around adjustment to new motherhood, providing early childhood developmental assessment and information to parents, and doing assessment and treatment of women and couples struggling with Postpartum Depression.

Ms. Levin recently has chosen to focus her clinical work exclusively on Postpartum Depression services. Her expertise in this important area is offered in providing diagnostic assessment, individual and couples therapy, referral for psychiatric services, consultation with medical staff, teaching and supervision around Postpartum Depression and Anxiety, and Prenatal Mood Disorders. She has had extensive professional and personal experience with the pain of Pre- and Postpartum Mood Disorders and is committed to providing women, couples, and health practitioners with the support and information they need to heal this serious illness. She is a member of Depression After Delivery, Inc. where she is listed as a clinical resource.
